Out With The Old....

I know what you're thinking, another stupid blog. I know you guys don't care THAT much about what I think about things. I know. In my defense though, I rarely post on my blogs anymore. Only when something really strikes a nerve and I feel the need to complain about it. I'm still gonna keep that one, to help blow off a little steam every now and again.

I've had this website for about a year now and have done absolutely nothing with it. I originally was going to have it be a craft blog (as you can see from the design) and have it replace my Jill of All Trades blog. It was around the time I got really into Pinterest (nerd alert.) and all the awesome stuff you could find on that site. I was going to do a blog a week about something new I created from Pinterest. I'm over it. Woo hoo! You made your own laundry detergent! So did I! Now there are eleventy billion blogs about how to make laundry detergent. You're just confusing everyone at this point. By the way, I made my own dryer sheets and fabric softener too, so suck it.

Anyway, this little cat has been sitting at his piano for probably over a year, actually, just waiting for someone to admire him. I could have changed the design and made it more fitting for what I'm actually going to use it for, but I have a weird love for pictures of cats acting human. It's creepy and hilarious. Also, my Grandma used to call me a hoyden, so the name reminds me of her. Plus, I already paid for the domain, so that's not changing anytime soon.

To make a long story longer, I was perusing the Internet the other day and came across a very interesting TED talk, that completely inspired me. If you don't know what a TED talk is, you need to go to go HERE and check it out. This site is even better than sliced bread. There is not a topic that isn't covered and the speakers are so great. Even the videos who's subject you have no interest in, will entertain you. I guarantee it. The videos are educational, funny, inspiring, sad and beautiful. So, anyway I found this TED talk of a woman who did a "year of TED". It was a self-improvement project to infuse ideas from TED talks, into her everyday life. I was completely inspired by the idea and wanted to do something of the sort. I'm not sure how many people are aware of TED, so this is a way for me to share their videos, write about it and hopefully inspire and educate anyone that comes across this blog. There will also be pictures of cats doing human things thrown in randomly, to keep with the theme.

I haven't quite decided exactly how I'm going to set this up, but I figured, instead of making that poor piano playing kitty wait any longer, I need to just start and see where it goes. There are a few things I know I want to do. I want to try my hardest to post at least one TED talk a week. I will always include the video of the actual talk, not just me explaining the whole video, and then write whatever I feel like writing about the video. I don't have a rhyme or reason yet to the videos I'll post; I'll start with some of my personal favs and then delve into the unknown. I want to be inspired and educated too! If you have any favorite TED talks that you want to share with me, please do!! There are so many of them, that it's going to be impossible to find all the best ones.

So, without further adieu, the TED talk that got my wheels turning:
